What to say instead of “Let me know your thoughts”

Short answer: say “Can you confirm option A by Tuesday? If I don't hear back, I'll proceed.”

DON'T SAY
“Let me know your thoughts.”
SAY THIS
“Can you confirm option A by Tuesday? If I don't hear back, I'll proceed.”
A default action keeps work moving when replies are slow.

When to use it

Use it when you need a decision, not open-ended input. Ask for a specific confirmation by a date, and say what you'll do if you don't hear back. Work keeps moving, and the other person can stay silent if they agree.

Example

You: “Can you confirm option A by Tuesday? If I don't hear back, I'll proceed.”

Manager: “Confirmed. Go ahead.”

In an email or Slack message

Only use the “I'll proceed” default for decisions that are reasonable to make without them. For big or risky calls, ask for an explicit yes instead.
