How to give feedback to your boss about meetings

Short answer: say “Could we share an agenda before our weekly meeting? I'd come better prepared.”

DON'T SAY
“Your meetings are kind of all over the place.”
to your boss
SAY THIS
“Could we share an agenda before our weekly meeting? I'd come better prepared.”
Framing it as a request makes upward feedback easy to accept.

When to use it

Use it when you want to suggest an improvement to something your manager runs. Turn it into a small request that also helps you do better work. It's easy to say yes to and doesn't feel like criticism.

Example

You: “Could we share an agenda before our weekly meeting? I'd come better prepared.”

Manager: “Good idea. I'll put one in the invite.”

In an email or Slack message

In Slack: “Idea for our weekly: could we drop agenda items in this thread by Monday? I'd come better prepared.” Offering to start the thread yourself makes it even easier.
