How to answer “Tell me about yourself” in an interview

Short answer: say “I'm a project coordinator with five years in logistics, known for fixing messy processes.”

A one-line summary tells them how to see you from the start.

When to use it

Use it as the first line of your answer. Your role, your experience and what you're known for, in one sentence. Then add one or two examples and why you want this job. Practice it out loud so it sounds natural, not memorized.

Example

Interviewer: “Tell me about yourself.”

You: “I'm a project coordinator with five years in logistics, known for fixing messy processes. Most recently I rebuilt our shipment tracking.”

In an email or Slack message

Use the same one-liner at the top of a networking email or LinkedIn message: “I'm a project coordinator with five years in logistics, known for fixing messy processes.”
